Richard III City Break

Book a break with our wonderfully historic Leicester city hotel and see for yourself the search for the last Plantagenet King and visit the site of the battle where he died.

The demise of last Plantagenet king of England took place in Leicester and across the county. Our hotel provides a fantastic base from which to explore all the key sites and many can be explored on foot. Richard spent the last night of his life at the Blue Boar Inn in Leicester and lost his life at the Battle of Bosworth, in nearby Market Bosworth. The following day his body was returned to Leicester.

Cupcakes and Hanging Baskets

We’ve had another busy week at the Belmont with guests coming and going, functions taking place, restaurant meals being served and an influx for our afternoon teas, amongst other things. A couple of highlights for us have been:

IMG_0828-1024x764 (1)Firstly the arrival of this year’s hanging baskets. It’s one of those things many hotels don’t bother with (cost cutting) but we’re so lucky to be based in a really pretty part of the city (and a conservation area) that we take great pride in keeping up the appearance of the hotel. The baskets are prepared for us by Wistow Garden Centre and our maintenance manager Julian and his team fit them all around the hotel.

IMG_0831-764x1024(1)Another highlight this week has been the cup cake decorating class, organised by our Director of Sales, Alison, in association with ‘R U A Dark Horse?’ Some of our key clients were invited to enjoy a class (and glass!) with instruction on how to beautify these tasty treats! A good turn-out meant a great night was enjoyed by all, and you can have a look at the picture to see how Alison’s cakes turned out… scores please!

Here at the Belmont this week, we were very pleased to learn that, for the second year in a row, we’ve received a TripAdvisor certificate of excellence. This is awarded to businesses on TripAdvisor that are in the top 10% and regularly receive excellent reviews from their guests. We were very pleased to receive this award and Operations Manager James Bowie was quick to praise our team,

This award is down to the efforts of the whole team to help us stand out in a busy hotel market in Leicester, and I think all the team do a fantastic job to that end.”
